Old Water Tower II Original Painting
Bulgarian artist Ekaterina Andreeva - 'Kati' shares with us: I made this work after I walked around one of Sofia's district. I saw one old water tower which have been reconstructed as an art gallery.
Outside the building looks really old and full covered with ivy. However, inside there are a round staircase to the top of the tower. I was impressed of the perspective, the depth and plenty of light from the windows. I felt like I was soaring around it.
I have made some sketches of this place and after that I have painted two versions of this really unusual and specific place in my city.

Ekaterina Andreeva created this beautiful painting using tempera paint. Tempera painting is executed with pigment ground in a water-miscible medium.
Traditional tempera paint is an ancient medium, having been in constant use in most of the world’s cultures until it was gradually superseded by oil paints in Europe, during the Renaissance.
Tempera was used to decorate the early Christian catacombs, as well as mummy cases, papyrus rolls and the vellum leaves of medieval illuminated manuscripts.
